MCC mentor coaching to achieve the highest level of ICF credentialing
Master Certified Coach (MCC) is the highest credential offered by the International Coaching Federation (ICF). To be eligible for MCC, the applicant should have completed more than 200 hours of coaching education, should possess 2,500 hours of coaching experience, and hold, or previously held, PCC (Professional Certified Coach) credential. An MCC is highly trained in the ICF Code of Ethics, Core Competencies, and well-refined coaching techniques. They are uniquely qualified to dig beneath a client’s surface-level concerns, and unearth their true potential. ICF offers two application paths for MCC. These are:
Level 3 Path: This MCC path is available to those individuals who hold a PCC, and have built into their program the education hours and mentor coaching required to earn an ICF MCC credential. After completion of the Level 3 Program, you will submit your Level 3 certificate, coaching experience hours, and recorded coaching sessions for performance evaluation by ICF.
Portfolio Path: For non-ICF accredited education, the program curricula need to be submitted with robust documentation to ensure the education received meets ICF standards. The applicant also needs to submit recorded coaching sessions for performance evaluation that need to be verified separately.
Mentoring by MCC Mentor Coaches
Those who want to achieve the highest level of ICF accreditation can contact Powerhouse Coaching for their Level 3 MCC program, which is delivered over a period of 22 weeks. The objective of the 75-hour Level 3 MCC program by Powerhouse Coaching is to assist experienced coaches in understanding the nuances that distinguish MCC coaching from PCC, help coaches to find and bring their unique coach self to the MCC coaching session, and develop the coaches’ awareness of self and the shifts required to coach at the Master Level.
75-hour comprehensive mentor coaching for MCC
The 75-hour Level 3 MCC program offered by Powerhouse Coaching is divided into 39 synchronous hours which are delivered via Zoom, and 36 asynchronous hours. Most live sessions are of 90 minutes duration which are delivered in English, and are super-focused on understanding, embodying, and practicing the eight ICF core competencies. Synchronous hours will also consist of four 2-hour Practice Clinics, and include a combination of instructions, facilitated discussions, coaching practice, and feedback. The synchronous hours of MCC mentor coaching also include the required 7 hours of group mentor coaching and three hours of one-to-one coaching.
Asynchronous hours
The 36 asynchronous hours include a combination of coaching, being
coached, journaling, independent reading, plus listening to and reviewing a
variety of MCC-level coaching sessions. Students create a community outside of
live sessions and share their findings via online classroom discussion forums.
Students are paired with a buddy with whom they can find support, practice, and
discuss outside of class. The entire course content is completed over 22 weeks,
which will include fundamentals of competencies, deeper diving into
competencies, peer coaching, observed coaching, makeup classes, and more.
